Hi, I'm

A Front-end Web Developer

I'm a front-end web developer who loves bringing beautiful designs to life. Currently I'm focused on building responsive front-end web applications while continuing to improve my skills.

What technologies I've used.

HTML
I've mostly used React or Next JS when building web apps. But on smaller projects I've used HTML and half of my day I'm looking at the DOM :-).

Github
I've been working with Github since codaisseur. I use it on a daily basis for work and private projects.
html logo
Javascript
Has been the main language I've used since starting to code. It's a super flexible language and difficult to master but totally worth it.

Typescript
TypeScript is the main language used at Reversed. It's a layer on top of Javascript which helps to keep track of your code. I find it super usefull because it catches a lot of bugs before you even look at your browser.

React
Codaisseur tought us React very early on. It's been growing and growing, and with Next Js and Remix users included it's the most popular library out there.

Next JS
I've been starting to use Next JS when I joined Reversed Digital, we use it on all the projects. It's a great addon to all the goodness that React has to offer.

Redux
We learned Redux at Codaisseur, my portfolio project was build with it. I did really like it but after discovering Next JS I haven't really used it anymore.

Node
Used Node on all my codaisseur projects, and still use it on some personal projects. I find it very usefull also because you can just write javascript in it.

CSS
During my time at Codaisseur we used mostly Sass or Bootstrap. But for the past year I've been writing plain CSS using Linaria.

Sass
Sass is what we used at Codaisseur, it's a way to write CSS. Since Codaisseur I've not used it much, I prefer to use Tailwind or Linaria.

Tailwind CSS
Tailwind is a very popular CSS library, it's a bit different from Sass. It's more like a utility library, you can use it to quickly make a responsive website. I've used it on a few projects and it really grew on me. The inline styling is a bit weird at first but it's very powerfull.

Bootstrap
Used this on a shared project with some of my colleagues at Codaisseur. Again like Sass and Tailwind, it's an easy way to make a responsive website. If I had to pick out of the 3 I'd go for Tailwind, due to it removing unused CSS during build it's the most efficient one.
So I quit my job in the midst of a Pandemic to start an intense full-time boot camp to become a developer... crazy right? Here's my story:

After having worked in the broadcasting industry for the better part of a decade (8 years). I had to do a new morning show, and while doing it I noticed I was excited learning something new again. And right away realised I hadn't felt that in a while. I had worked with so many hard- and software which always introduced something new. But at this point in my career I was mostly done learning. That was the main reason to make me think about my future. I quickly came to the conclusion that I was ready for a new challenge. Coding had always intrigued me, during my job as a Graphics/LSM operator right before a show/football game something would breakdown at which point I had to look at the code and see if I could fix the problem. Often the problem was in the coding, but fixing it was not that easy, but very interesting. So I decided to go out and learn how to do this magic! Looking for a place to learn how to code I came across Codaisseur. This seemed like the perfect fit for what I was looking for, a full time though bootcamp, where I would learn a ton in a (relative) short time (3 months) to jumpstart my new career.

Over the course of 3 months I learned a lot about all sorts of marvelous technologies (from React and Redux to Express and PostgreSQL and much more). After graduating I had talks with a lot of companies who did a lot of different things. It was difficult for me to fully know what I wanted as it all seemed cool! The first job I took was as a consultant, the idea was to spend 50% of the time coding and 50% of the time interacting with customers. Which seemed like a great way to further explore where this journey would take me. After the first month though I had discovered the job focused a lot on an in-house converter that needed to be configured. Therefor there was a lot less coding than I had imagined and I realized it wasn't the right fit for me. In this period it hit me: the wrong decision had led to the right perspective. I learned two important things in that month; I knew what I didn't want and after careful consideration I knew what I DID want. I went out to search for a Digital Agency because I wanted to be a web/app developer. This is when I came across and joined Reversed Digital, a Digital Agency located in Utrecht. I've worked there for well over a year and learned/improved a lot. After which I moved on to Incentro a bigger company to help me grow even more. I started working there November first 2022.
